More than half of Airspeed Aviation’s Flight Instructors are highly experienced, current multi-engine professional air charter pilots whose real-world flying experience brings you significant flight training advantages. Every one of our Flight Instructors is employed full-time and exclusively by Airspeed Aviation. Train and qualify with the best.

As the Hunter Valley’s leading flying school, with full-time Flight Training Centres in Scone, Tamworth, Shellharbour and Dubbo, we have trained hundreds of pilots since 1999 and novices and experienced pilots travel from all over NSW to our bases.

Ben Wyndham
Ben has been a charter pilot and flight instructor for over 30 years, working in Corporate, Freight, Survey, Touring, and flight training. Ben has been a CASA-approved Flight Examiner since 2010.
He has post-graduate qualifications in Industrial safety and spent three years as Safety Manager of one of Australia’s leading regional airlines. Ben travels across Australia and overseas to audit Aviation companies for the Flight Safety Foundation BARS program, Oil & Gas protocols, and other Safety organisations.
As founder and CEO, Ben’s experience in safety and compliance is combined with 30 years of professional flying experience to shape every course we teach.

Zach has been with Airspeed since 2024 and since joining Airspeed has qualified on C441 Conquest, TBM850, Cessna C414, Baron, and of course all the Single-engine fleet.
Zach leads Airspeed’s IFR Courses, keeping the instruction tight and focussed on real-world Charter pilot skills.

David joins Airspeed with 30 years of commercial experience in his logbook, spanning General Aviation charter, Virgin Blue, and Cathay Pacific. More than an instructor, with a strong business and commercial background David has become an important element of the Airspeed Aviation team.

Jake Cakalic
Dubbo Gr 2Tamworth Gr 2Jake is a Grade 2 at Tamworth and also flies the Baron and Cessna C414 on Charter operations.
In addition to basic training, Jake is available for Flight reviews, Design Feature training, Night VFR and IFR Training.
Gabe is a versatile Grade 2 instructor teaching in a range of aircraft models at Dubbo.
In addition to basic training, Gabe is available for Design Feature training, Flight Reviews and Night VFR Training.

Britney joins us from New Zealand, bringing experience in mountain flying and airine cadet flight training.
Brit is avaiable at SHELLHARBOUR for general training and flight reviews.
Connor Thorpe
Shellharbour Gr 2Connor is avaiable at Shellharbour for basic flight training up to Commercial Pilot Licence training.
Joining Airspeed as a fresh Grade 3 in November 2025, Connor will qualify as a Grade 2 in July 2026 and will be available for design feature training and Flight reviews.
